Sport Board
Course: From Idea to Design
Product description
Sport Board is an interactive board game that functions as a physical interface of an online game experience. The game was developed during Covid-19 to encourage players to engage in home exercise, as gyms were closed. By combining the physical and digital aspects into one, players can mimic the competitiveness of teamsports while practising safe distancing.

The buttons on the physical board are used to turn the game on, reload previous games or start a new game. Both the digital and physical board consists of two different types of tiles: Challenges and Questions. For each tile you need to pick up their respective cards and complete the task or answer the question on them.
When doing a challenge, you have the chance to complete 3 checkpoints; for each checkpoint completed, you can move one step forward. Challenges are split into 4 different categories: Strength, Stamina, Flexibility and Balance. By completing different categories, your level in each changes. These levels can be seen in your profile’s ‘details’ page. When playing on the physical board, press the button of the category that you received, the board will transfer your progress onto your physical character which can then send the progress to your account.
Questions on the other hand, do not award you with steps but instead, a power move to use against other players. Answer the multiple-choice question correctly, and push the game in your favour.
The physical characters are more than just something to move around the board. By using them, you are able to save your results after playing a game physically and transfer the information to your account. These characters determine what level you are in the game.
All the challenge cards are split into difficulty levels to keep things fair between players with different strengths. When landing on a challenge tile, you must pick a card pertaining to your level and try to complete the challenge. It is crucial that your opponents see you complete the
challenge in order to keep a fair game.
Question cards give you sport-based trivia questions and give you power moves to use against other players. When playing physically, an opponent must read the question to you and tell you whether or not you answered correctly. If you answer incorrectly, pick a challenge card at your
next turn to move again.
